From the Pouteau Listings:
List No. LNW-190. Built as No. 2350 in 1879, "Samson" Class 2-4-0 Centaur
was renumbered to 773 the same year. Apparently nearing the end of her
working days in November 1894, the engine was transferred to the duplicate
list as No. 3200. There was more to come however, for a new twenty-eight
year career lay ahead as Engineer Watford, in which guise the engine is seen
here, with her new cast nameplate but having lost her number. She was also
fitted with a short chimney and centre lamp bracket, and had her earlier
tender replaced by an 1,800 gallon type with coal rails and a spectacle
plate. She is here seen posing proudly for the camera probably shortly after
conversion and coupled to an SD Watford brake van. Engineer Watford's career
finally came to an end in 1923.
